Deployment

Some FACT-Finder customers have a testing system called "staging environment", in order to test configuration changes or new data sets. For users of this setup, the Deployment module allows importing certain changes directly from the testing system to the live production system.

Deployment overwrites the live environment's configuration and/or databases with those of the testing system. Any changes made only to the live environment are lost when you transfer data. For this reason, the testing system should be the lead system.

In the Deployment menu, first click the drop-down menu to select the channel for which you want to import data into the live system.

The next step is to select what type of data to transfer. The effects of the individual options are as follows:

Search configuration: The search configurations from the Configuration Editor, except for the Suggest configurations, are copied over to the live production system.

Search index: The search database is copied over to the live production system.

Suggest configuration: The Suggest configurations are copied including the associated blacklist and whitelist.

Suggest index: The Suggest database, in which the search term suggestions are stored, is copied over to the live production system.

Recommendation Engine configuration: The settings configured for the Recommendation Engine module are copied to the live system. Alongside the matrix definitions, this also applies to the manually adjusted relationship fields.

Campaigns: Any campaigns defined in the testing/staging system are copied over.

It is important that the search configuration matches the search database. Problems may arise if either of the files are different. For example, a different field order might cause the live search application to fail.
