Search Algorithm
These settings support Multi Channel Configuration. Depending on the status of the selected channel, direct configuration might be locked or linked to other channels. See here for more information.
Speed vs accuracy (1) is an internal parameter for the FACT-Finder search algorithm. In general, the search quality improves as this value decreases. However, search speed decreases at the same time.
The Minimum similarity (2) setting defines the minimum similarity that any product must have (to the search term) in order for it to be included in the search results.
The Maximum number of results (3) count is the absolute number of matches, after which results are truncated. In contrast to the maximum number of results determined by the search speed (see Optimisation Documentation), the search process is not interrupted when this limit is reached. The excess results are simply removed from the end of the list. Please note that filters are generated from search results. If you cut off search results, some filters may not be included.
The Spread (4) parameter can also be seen as a form of dynamic minimum similarity. Its value determines the minimum similarity below which results are not counted, compared with the best hits. For example, if the best hit has a similarity of 98.7% and the spread is set to 8%, all hits with a similarity of less than 90.7% will be discounted. The purpose of this setting is to “separate the wheat from the chaff”, ensuring the quality of results returned.
