Server Sizing
Search Application
The search application's system requirements are hardest to predict, as they depend on the shop data and amount of queries FACT-Finder has to process. Processing time also depends on potential special requirements, which can increase system load.
As a rule of thumb, a single Intel Xeon E3 Processor can process about 1 million queries per month. For a stock of 1 million products, you need around 16 GB of RAM. In addition to product data, configurations and the search database, the system also contains search, tracking and application logfiles, which also need memory. Search and tracking logfiles are processed by the Analytics application, so these can be shifted to a different system daily.
For a better estimate, please supply your product data early on.
Analytics
The Analytics application most likely needs the largest amount of memory, depending on how much of a search history you want to keep and how many queries the search application processes. Starting with version 7.1, Analytics can process gzip-compressed files, allowing you to save memory space.
UI Application
The Management UI application communicates with the search application exclusively via APIs and doesn't contain any data. You need no additional hard-disk space beyond the application and its logfiles.
