Personalization by Loop54
What does this function offer?
Ranking of products based on intent to purchase during the session
The search engine sorts search results in real time based on a visitor's unique purchase intent during the session, using browser cookies or user ID. Intent is derived from the area/context of the catalog in which the visitor interacts during a single session. Contextual mapping of products is done during algorithm training and is a core component of Loop54's proprietary AI.
Ranking of products based on unique customer preferences
The engine sorts the search results in real time based on the visitor's personal preferences (e.g. brand, gender, size or other attributes in the product feed) using the browser cookie or user ID.
Ranking of results according to relevance
By default, all search results delivered by the search engine are ranked by relevance. Relevance is based on historical information from all interactions with the products, such as clicks and purchases for specific search queries. This is called Wisdom of the Crowd.
Cross-device personalization
The personalized experience can be played on all devices a user uses if the user is identified by their User ID.
What do I have to do?
Once you have chosen the Loop54 Engine, we take care of the technical part of the integration. The engine effectively needs no manual input or configurations and starts working and learning immediately.
The dedicated control panel can be found under Modules → Loop54 Settings in the FACT-Finder backend. There, you can make basic settings if required.
- Activate <> deactivate Loop54 integration
- Number of search results to be personalized
- Number of personalized recommendations desired (only if Recommendations module is activated).
However, in most cases it is not necessary to change anything here. In principle, it is possible to personalize not only the search, but also the navigation. However, since this is very resource-intensive, you should coordinate this decision with us.
The product limit is set to 5,000 by default. This specifies the number of search results that are considered for personalization per search and result. The limit makes it possible to increase performance (reduction of response time) if there are a lot of results for certain search queries.
How does Personalization affect the search results?
In the new FACT-Finder Cockpit, you can directly compare the effect that personalization powered by Loop54 has on the quality of search results.
For example, if you search for "Star Wars," you will only get these results based on similarity:
Enable personalization, and Wisdom of the Crowd will already improve result quality.
By clicking on the personalization icon, you can access the personalization options. Activate "Use personalization" to personalize the results according to general relevance. The Loop54 engine automatically detects popular products and sorts them to the front. No input from the individual customer is required for this, the effect takes effect immediately.
"Show original position" activates the display of the original position, based on the FACT-Finder settings. This allows you to see how personalization affects individual items.
If your store already knows the customer better, the result is refined even more specifically. You can test this effect by trying out customer behavior in the Demoshop, i.e. searching for products, adding them to the shopping cart and buying them. If you then copy the User ID or Session ID from the Demoshop into the Cockpit, you will get an exact analysis of the effects of personalization on a by-customer level.
In this example, the hypothetical customer is not only a fan of Star Wars, but also of Lego brand products. The influence of personalization can be seen even more clearly here.
In another example, the hypothetical customer is not only a fan of Star Wars, but also of assembling kits. The only thing they have in common is the PS4 game Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order.
What do I need to look out for?
Please note the following limitations: |
---|
The FACT Finder and Loop54 personalizations cannot be used at the same time. As long as the Loop54 engine is active, the native personalization settings are not accessible and are therefore grayed out. |
Personalization is by default only active for the search. Results from navigation are not personalized and are based on FACT Finder settings. When categories are opened via Suggest, they are personalized, unlike category navigation. |
Personalization is performed only for master articles. Variants are not taken into account. Variants are added at the end of the list after the personalized master items have been played out. This uses the native FACT-Finder sorting logic. |
If master articles and/or variants are queried sorted, e.g. by price, no personalization takes place by Loop54. |
The results are not added or removed by Loop54, but only re-sorted (personalized). |
The parameter "UsePersonalization" can be used as before to switch personalization on and off per website visitor. |
