Learn how to create a standalone Channel as well as Parent and Child Channels.

1. Navigate to Channel Management -> Channel Editing

2. Choose a creation Method

You can either create a new channel (1) or clone an existing one (2).

2.1 Cloning an existing channel

Click  to open the cloning dialogue:

First, you can select the channel to be cloned (1). The dialogue also displays, whether the source channel is already a parent channel (2).

Next, choose a unique channel name (3) and decide whether to set it as a parent channel (4) or set it as the child channel of a specific parent (5)

3. Create a new Channel

First, set a name and language for the channel.

Then, decide whether you want a parent, child or standalone channel.

A channel has one of three roles, all of which are mutually exclusive:

  1. A standalone channel is neither set as parent channel (1), nor is it assigned to a parent channel (2). Any adjustments made to the channel's setting affect only itself.
  2. By checking the box (1), a channel can be set as parent channel. Any adjustments made to the channel's settings are handed down to all of its child channels.
  3. You can turn a channel into a child channel, by assigning it an existing parent channel (2). It inherits all setting changes made in the parent channel.

Parent channels are not intended as live channels!. Ideally, you would use a parent channel as a template for multiple live child channels. This allows you to modify each live channel individually.

If you wish to turn an existing standalone channel into a parent channel, please refer to this article.

4. Click → Add

The channel will be added to the list of existing channels. If it was added as a parent channel, this bill be marked. In addition, all new and existing child channels will be grouped with their respective parent channels..
