Output compression

When a large number of results are produced, along with many filter options, the amount of data returned by FACT-Finder rises quickly. This can cause the network data transmission time to form a significant component of the overall search response time.

If supported by the web server, the server response can be sent after having been compressed using the GZIP algorithm, to heavily reduce the data volume.

Depending on the programming language used, however, it may be necessary to use client-side code to support this compression method as well. The client must explicitly request compressed output using the value “gzip” in the request header “Accept-Encoding”.
